Yedidyah Langsam, Ph.D. AEMT-P, was the Murray Koppelman Professor (2004-06), and is currently the chairman of the Computer & Information Science Department and member of the faculty of the CS Department of the CUNY Graduate Center and serves as chairman of the Brooklyn College Faculty Council. Langsam's research interests include medical and respiratory care informatics, multimedia, data structures and Jewish medical ethics. He has published widely, including several textbooks that have been translated into multiple languages. He has been an active volunteer paramedic for more than 20 years. He is a member of the New York State Emergency Systems Council (SEMSCO) and the chair of the New York City Regional Emergency Medical Council (REMSCO). In 2000, he was honored by the Regional Emergency Medical Services Council as New York City's Paramedic of the Year. He arrived at Brooklyn College in 1969; began teaching in the Chemistry Department in 1973 and joined the CIS Department in 1978.
